Welcome to My Website

Bill Prickett - Desk1.jpg

Thank you for visiting.
I’m honored!

I don’t want to spend too much valuable front-page space talking about me because I want this site to be so much more.
(There’s details on the About Me page, if you’re interested.)

For the sake of brevity, I’ve chosen FOUR things that might help you know me better:

Observer. I am fascinated by what’s happening around me. And I often have an opinion! It’s this aspect that motivates my blog, Brain Bubbles, where I share whatever is “bubbling up" in my brain at any given time—personal insights, life lessons, current events, writing techniques, answers to questions from folks on my Facebook page, silly stuff, random ramblings and serious matters.

Writer.  My writing flows out of what I observe, what I’ve experienced, and who I am. (Plus extensive research!) I’m the author of three novels, including my latest book, A Time to Every Purpose, as well as short stories and “parables.” I maintain an active social media life, including my Facebook Author page.
(If you haven’t “Liked” my Facebook page, here are TEN REASONS you should do that.)

Survivor. First, I feel fortunate to have survived my harsh background in Fundamental Christianity.
Second, because of their rigid interpretation of Scripture, I became part of an organization that promised to “heal” my sexual orientation. I’m grateful to have survived that experience; I have dear friends who did not, and took their own life as an escape.
Finally, I’m a cancer survivor who is once again confronted with the disease.

A Gay Person of Faith. I spent 15+ years in the Deep South as a Christian minister in mainstream denominations. Then I made the decision to live my life in honesty and integrity (i.e., I “came out”).
I’ve embraced and reconciled both my faith and my sexual orientation.

I’m no longer in ministry, but I continue to work for reconciliation, equality, diversity and inclusion, particularly in the religious community. In addition, I volunteer with an online support group for those who’ve been hurt by “ex-gay” ministries. Occasionally, I'm asked to speak to the media, at churches and conferences.

That’s me…in a nutshell.
(Those who know me will affirm that the operative word is...nut!)

Again, thanks for visiting my site.
Feel free to contact me directly if you have questions or comments.
If appropriate, I will gladly respond.

I am thrilled to be teaming up with Recovering from Religion, an international nonprofit organization committed to providing online resources for those who have questions or doubts about their faith.

Along with my dear friend Tim Rymel, M.Ed., I’m hosting the RfR podcast. Our guests will offer personal experiences and insights from inside various religions and religious organizations, such as Mormonism, Jehovah Witnesses and Scientology. We’ll talk with those who’ve been harmed by extreme religious beliefs and practices. Some of these folks ended up abandoning their faith, others re-defined it, and some are still in process.
In addition, there will be experts who can offer help, hope and healing.

All episodes can be found at AnchorFM.
You can listen on your computer, or on your Android or iPhone, using the AnchorFM app. You’ll also find a link to listen in other popular podcast apps.

New episodes will be available bi-weekly.
For more information, visit the Recovering from Religion Podcast page.
